Miguel Rio Branco, born in 1946 em Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. It painter, photographer, film director, plus creator of multimedia installations. Currently lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. Worked extensively in Europe and the Americas from the beginning of his career, in 1964, with an exhibition in Bern, Switzerland. Directed 14 short films and photographed 8 long. He also directed and photographed 7 experimental films and 2 videos. The photographs of Rio Branco were published in various magazines like Stern, National Geogra-phic, Geo, Aperture, Photo Magazine, European, Walker. Bitter Sweet Sweat, the first book of Rio Branco, was published in 1985 by Fondo de Cultura Economica, Mexico. The second, Nakta, with a poem by Louis Calaferte was published in 1996 Cultural Foundation of Curitiba. In 1998 released two books: Miguel Rio Branco, David assay with Levi Strauss, released by Aperture; e Silent Book, by Cosac Naify. Miguel Rio Branco has works in collections public and private collections of European and American, which includes the following institutions: Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro; Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo; the Art Museum of São Paulo; Centre George Pompidou, Paris; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; o Municipal Museum, Amsterdam; o Museum of Photographic Arts of San Diego e no Metropolitan Museum of New York.
